End of Watch: June 21, 1978 Cause: Gunfire Age: 52 Years of Service: 23 Description: Deputy Geszvain and Sergeant Quin O'Brien were in court with an inmate when the man gained control of Deputy Geszvain's service weapon and opened fire. Deputy Geszvain, who was shot with his own gun, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Sergeant O'Brien succumbed to his injuries the following day. The inmate was sentenced to two counts of life without parole. |
